Italy is a country in Southern Europe important to many Salemites. It is the ancestral home of the DiMeras, the Vitalis, the Toscanos, and the Corellis. EJ DiMera and Cat Greene stayed in a rehab facility in the country.
History
DiMera Enterprises is founded by Santo DiMera in Tuscany, Italy in the early 1900s. In 1982, Stefano DiMera moves the family business to Salem, Illinois from Rome, Italy. In 2007, a seriously ill Stefano is moved to Italy by EJ DiMera. In 2018, following a warehouse fire, EJ is moved to a rehab clinic in Italy. Around this same time, Cat Greene is moved from clinic to clinic to maintain her ISA cover following a car accident and, at one point, stays in the same clinic as EJ. One day, she sees Sami Brady visiting EJ. Cat begins reading Wuthering Heights to EJ. In 2021, Johnny DiMera and Chanel Dupree marry in Italy.
