Storylines

Linda came to Salem in 1970 and became Mickey Horton's secretary. Shortly afterward, Linda became pregnant and believed Mickey was the father. She hoped that he would leave his wife, Laura Horton, for her. Mickey, however, repaired his marriage to Laura. Meanwhile, Linda was also seeing Mickey's brother, Bill Horton. When Mickey told Linda in 1971 that he would never leave Laura, Linda attempted suicide. She survived the attempt, but it would cause much consternation. Linda's pregnancy was discovered, as was her affair with Mickey. After Linda gave birth, blood tests proved that the father of the child was Linda's ex-boyfriend Jim Philips. When Jim discovered this, he came to Salem and married Linda. They moved to Boston.

In 1975, Linda returned to Salem, without Jim, with her daughter Melissa. When she learned that Mickey had amnesia, she tried to win him back by convincing him that he was Melissa's father. However, her plan was thwarted by Jim, who was dying and had sent a letter to Maggie Horton. Linda, however, was determined to win Mickey back and now spent a lot of time with Mike Horton , who everyone thought was Mickey's son. Mike was confused about his sexual feelings for Trish Clayton and women in general. Linda slept with Mike to help him with this. Mike became obsessed with Linda, but she told him that she was only interested in Mickey. When she realized that Mickey was not interested, she set her sights on Bob Anderson, who gave her a job in his company. After Bob also lost interest, Linda began spending a lot of time with Tommy Horton, who even proposed to her.

In 1978, Bob developed heart problems and gave more control of the company to Linda. She was very happy with this power and to keep it, she broke off her engagement to Tommy and married Bob. When Linda became the head of Anderson Manufacturing, she demoted Chris Kositchek, who resigned and started a new company. However, Bob called Linda to task and reinstated Chris. Linda also began seeing Neil Curtis after Bob recovered from a heart attack. In 1979, Bob confronted Linda about her affair. Linda was distraught and fell down the stairs, she recovered but could not remember her affair with Neil. She returned to Bob and tried to make the marriage work for the sake of Melissa, whom Bob had adopted. Stephanie Woodruff had taken Linda's place at Anderson and Linda went back to work as Mickey's secretary. When a solar generator was stolen, Bob accused Linda and cut her out of his will. Linda was desperate to get back in Bob's good graces and claimed to be pregnant. She went to Neil and asked him to help her by telling her she had a miscarriage, but he refused. Linda did not know that Melissa had overheard the conversation. In 1980, Bob told her that he would put her back in his will if she left Salem, which she did.

Linda returned in 1984 under the name Madame DuPrix. She began buying stock in many local companies, including Anderson Manufacturing which she wanted back. She thought that if she could drive Melissa crazy she could take over her stock, but when she learned that Melissa had sold her stock she was furious. In revenge she drugged Pete Jannings, Melissa's boyfriend, and made sure Melissa caught them in bed. Linda encouraged Alex Marshall to burn down Anderson Manufacturing to collect the insurance money. Larry Welch later found out and blackmailed them. After Melissa learned the truth about her mother, Linda left town for good.
