John Thomas 'J.T' Brady Reiber was played by Brandon and Dylan Fischer, and Jacob and Joshua Rips on and off between June 7, 2000 and May 1, 2002.
J.T. was born to Marlo Ungerschterner and Glen Reiber. Stefano's daughter Lexie Carver, and her husband Abe Carver couldn't conceive and were thinking of adopting. Marlo's uncle Wilhelm Rolf, who was also worked for Stefano, suggested Lexie adopt Marlo's baby since she didn't want it.
Marlo proved she didn't care too much about her child by drinking and smoking. At the same time, Stefano was planning to initiate a baby switch since he believed he was the father of Hope Brady's baby when she worked for him as Gina Von Amberg.
Stefano originally planned to give Marlo's baby to Abe and Lexie, but fearing that the baby would be born with fetal alcohol syndrome, he decided to switch Marlo's baby with Hope's. Marlo overheard the plan and Stefano killed her to protect his secret.
Rolf switched the baby under Stefano's orders. Abe and Lexie went home with Hope's baby named Isaac Carver, and Hope went home with Marlo's baby. Bo Brady was revealed to be the father, and they named the baby John Thomas Brady after their good friend John Black, and Hope's grandfather Tom Brady
Bo and Hope raised John Thomas, abbreviated to J.T., as their own. They soon learned J.T. was suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome, and Hope blamed herself, believing it was caused by all the drinking she did as Gina.
Eventually, Hope believed John could be the father since he was also brainwashed by Stefano. She and Bo almost broke up as a result, but managed to stay together and continue to raise their "son".
Glenn Reiber and his wife Barb came to Salem looking for his son. Glenn and Barb were told Abe and Lexie were raising their son, but Glenn felt a strange connection with J.T.
Glenn had an DNA test performed on J.T., but the results were destroyed by Barb, who was pregnant and wanted Glenn to focus on her and their child. Barb eventually caved and told Glenn the truth.
Bard and Glenn soon became hated in Salem since Bo and Hope had strong ties to most of the people in Salem. Glenn and Barb took Bo and Hope to court and won custody of J.T.
Glenn was grateful to Bo and Hope for raising and caring for J.T, so he decided to keep the name he had been giving at birth, and just add Reiber at the end. That way, Bo and Hope would be honoured. Glenn even told them they could visit anytime they want.
On May 1, 2002, the Barbers left Salem to return to Iwoa where they lived. They raised J.T. As their own, alongside his younger half-brother.
