Richard "Dickie"Martin was the late son of the late David Martin and his ex wife Susan Hunter.

Susan married David Martin after learning that she was pregnant with their child. Originally, they planned to give the baby up for adoption, but Susan changed her mind when the baby was born, naming the baby Richard "Dickie" Martin.
Susan wanted to make the marriage work; however, David didn't feel the same way. Susan's parents, Richard and Diane pressured David to stay with Susan and Dickie. Susan and David's marriage fell apart, and David began seeing Julie Olson.
Things only got worse when Dickie fell off his swing set and died of a brain injury. Susan blamed David because he was pushing Dickie on the swing. Delirious with grief, Susan believed that David intended for Dickie's accident to happen because their son was the only thing connecting them together. Susan ended up shooting David to death.
Susan was eventually acquitted of David's murder and went to see David's mother to apologize to her.
